flâneur

Our new scent “flâneur” brings back a mindset that we believe our society has lost over time: the idea that the exceptional exists between the unspectacular. In a world dominated by speed and sensation, 27 87’s “flâneur” is a proposition and invitation to explore the space beyond superlatives and ambition. Our new scent seeks to find solace and inspiration in nothing more than the grace of the everyday: dizzyingly present, visionary and just a tad melancholic, but never old-fashioned. A green and faintly bitter absinthe accord contrasts the warmth of cashmere wood, linden, and almond blossom, along with fresh bergamot, elegant cedarwood, and a supportive base of star anise, dry amber, and vetiver. Imagine wandering around with no honest destination yet to discover the beauty in what we’d otherwise deem common. The result: a romantic, understated scent that encapsulates both the feeling of groundedness and the exoticism of everyday moments. Flaneur is a traditional French bourgeois concept of a man with a tailcoat, top hat, cane, and a pipe. The flaneur took on the ambiguous task of “living in the moment“ and strolls through the streets of urban life. He looked at the world at large – collected and recorded images and stories. Translate this mindset now into the present: rather than representing an individual or a distinctive person, 27 87’s “flâneur” proposes a different way of seeing and understanding the world around us. It opens up to the sensibility of our everyday life. It catches the detail, the lost spaces in between, manifested in our senses.
